Skype alternative FAQ
What is the best alternative to Skype?
EzyRing is a browser-based Skype alternative for calling phones abroad. It works in your browser with no app download, your calls go out with your own verified number, and you pay as you go with no subscription.
Can I still buy Skype Credit?
No. Microsoft retired Skype on 5 May 2025 and stopped selling Skype Credit and calling subscriptions to new customers. Check Microsoft's support pages for what applies to any balance you still have.
What replaces Skype for calling landlines abroad?
A pay-as-you-go calling service that dials ordinary phone numbers. EzyRing does this from your browser, with your own verified number as caller ID and credit that doesn't expire.
Can Microsoft Teams Free call phone numbers?
Teams Free is built for app-to-app calls. Microsoft let former paid Skype users keep using remaining credit or subscriptions there for a time, but new users can't buy calls to phone numbers in Teams Free. Check Microsoft's support pages for details.
Can I switch from Skype to EzyRing easily?
Yes. There's no app to download. Create a free account and add credit (packs from $5). To call with your own number as caller ID, verify it with a short call to your phone. It takes a few steps, and nothing to install.
