DEFINITION

What is verified caller ID?

Verified caller IDis a way to display your own real phone number — not a random VoIP pool number — on outbound calls. EzyRing verifies that you own the number (via a one-time SMS or voice code), then uses it as the caller ID on every call you place. The recipient sees the same number they've stored as you for years, recognises the call, and answers. Verified caller ID is the regulator-favoured approach to outbound calling under TCPA, GDPR, and OFCOM rules — the opposite of spoofing, which uses numbers the caller doesn't own.

WHY IT MATTERS

Four reasons your real number changes everything.

01

It's actually your number

Most VoIP services rotate you through a pool of shared US/UK numbers. EzyRing verifies a number you own (mobile, landline, eSIM — any line that can receive a one-time code) and uses it as your outbound caller ID forever.

02

Recipients recognise the call

Your contacts have stored your number for years. When they see it on the screen, they pick up — across all 240+ destination countries. Pickup rates on known numbers run 3–5× higher than unknown ones.

03

Callbacks ring your real phone

When the person you called hits redial, your actual mobile rings — not a temporary VoIP pool number that gets recycled tomorrow. Lead capture, customer support, family check-ins — none of it gets lost.

04

Carriers trust verified numbers

Spam-filtering systems (Truecaller, Hiya, carrier-side scoring) penalise rotating pool numbers. A verified, consistent, personal number sails through. Your call rings, not just lands in a missed-call list.

HOW IT WORKS

Verify in 30 seconds. Use it forever.

1

Verify your number

Sign up, go to Settings → Caller ID, enter the number you want to display. We send a one-time code by SMS or voice — confirm and you're done. Takes 30 seconds.

2

Dial from any browser

Open EzyRing in Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or Edge. Pick the destination country, type the number, hit call. The dialer runs entirely in the browser — no app, no SIM, no plugin.

3

They see your real number

The call reaches their phone with your verified caller ID. They see exactly the number they have stored as you — your mobile, your landline, your business line. Trust on the first ring.

FAQ

Verified caller ID, answered.

What is verified caller ID?+

Verified caller ID is a way to display your own real phone number on outbound calls, instead of the random pool numbers used by most VoIP services. EzyRing verifies that you actually own the number (via a one-time SMS or voice code), then uses it as the caller ID on every call you place. The recipient sees your number, recognises you, and is far more likely to answer.

How is this different from other browser-based phones?+

Most browser phones (including Skype) display a service-owned pool number to the recipient. EzyRing is built around verified caller ID — your real number is the default, not an upsell. We verify you own the number once, then use it on every subsequent call across 240+ destination countries.

Can I show a different number on different calls?+

Currently, each EzyRing account has one verified caller ID at a time, used for all outbound calls. You can change which number is verified at any time in Settings (you'll re-verify the new number). Multi-number presets for different campaigns are on the roadmap.

Is this legal? Doesn't it count as "spoofing"?+

No — showing a number you actually own and have verified is the opposite of spoofing. Spoofing is showing a number you don't control (typically used by scammers to impersonate banks or government). EzyRing's verification step proves the number is yours, which is the legitimate, regulator-favoured approach to outbound calling under TCPA (US), GDPR (EU), and OFCOM (UK) rules.

Will it work for two-factor authentication callbacks?+

EzyRing is for outbound calls (you call out, showing your verified number). For inbound 2FA, your real number's underlying SIM or landline still receives the calls and texts as normal — EzyRing doesn't intercept them.

What if my number is in a country EzyRing doesn't operate from?+

Where you call from doesn't matter — EzyRing works from any browser, anywhere with internet. What matters is that you can receive a one-time verification code on the number you want to display. Mobile numbers, landlines, and most virtual numbers (Twilio, Google Voice, MagicJack, etc.) all work.

How much does verified caller ID cost?+

Verified caller ID is included free with every EzyRing account — there's no upgrade fee, no monthly charge, and no per-call surcharge. You only pay the standard per-minute call rate, which starts at $0.014/min for most destinations.

Stop calling from numbers no one knows.
